“Function” is a big word in biology.
When we talk about cells, we want to know the function of the nucleus, the mitochondria, the endoplasmic reticulum, etc.
Then, we want to know the function of the cell in its organ and the organ’s function in the system and the system’s function in the organism.
After that, we talk about the organism’s function in the ecosystem.
But our study doesn’t merely involve living things. We want to know the functions of water, soil, air, sunshine, etc. in the ecosystem.
Wherever we look, whatever we study, we find that everything has a purpose, a use, a function.
What about people?
Does it seem to you, as it does to me, that people have an innate sense that they should have a purpose? That they’re incomplete until they find their function in the grand scheme of things? Robert Byrne actually said, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose.”
But if you’re an adult who was raised on an educational diet of evolution and other anti-God philosophies, how do you define your purpose? You originated a bizillion years ago in a slime pit. You pulled yourself up by your own bootstraps from a marine habitat through a creepy-crawly stage and eventually hoisted yourself into an upright stance.
Now what? You might direct your life into artistic, economic, health, or serving pursuits. But what’s the point? You’re just going to fade away into non-existence someday. And so is everyone around you.
It turns out that we don’t merely need a purpose. We need a purpose that means something.
Finding a Purpose with Meaning
Imagine standing at the edge of a vast, mysterious landscape, your life stretching before you like an uncharted terrain. You already know that most people wander through this landscape feeling lost, searching for meaning, direction, and purpose. But what if I told you there’s a powerful compass that can transform your journey from mundane survival to an extraordinary adventure? That compass is biblical faith.

The Empty Landscape of Meaningless Existence
Many people navigate life without a deeper sense of purpose. They chase achievements, accumulate possessions, and seek temporary pleasures, yet something fundamental remains missing. This isn’t just an emotional void—it’s a profound existential challenge. Without a transcendent framework, life can feel like a random collection of events, devoid of deeper significance.
Secular perspectives often leave individuals bearing the entire weight of meaning-making. Every decision, every struggle, every moment of joy or pain becomes a solitary experience. There’s no larger narrative, no sense that your life fits into something greater than yourself. The result? Increased anxiety, a sense of isolation, and a constant struggle to find validation.
Faith: The Transformative Lens
Biblical faith offers something radically different—a complete reimagining of existence. It’s not about religious rigidity, but about discovering a vibrant, dynamic relationship with God that infuses every moment with extraordinary meaning.
A Purpose Beyond Yourself
When you understand biblical principles, life stops being about personal achievement and starts being about participation in a grand, cosmic narrative. You’re no longer just an individual trying to survive, but a valued participant in a divine story. Your challenges become opportunities, your struggles transform into moments of growth, and your everyday experiences gain profound significance.

Psychological Resilience
Biblical understanding provides powerful psychological tools. Imagine having a consistent source of hope that transcends immediate circumstances. Biblical faith offers:
∙ A profound sense of being loved unconditionally
∙ Perspective that turns obstacles into opportunities
∙ Hope that persists even in the darkest moments
∙ A community that supports and uplifts you
Community and Connection
Unlike the isolation many experience in secular life, biblical faith connects you to a vibrant community. You’re not alone in your journey. You have a network of support, shared values, and collective wisdom that enriches your life experience.
More Than Just Survival: Living with Excitement
Biblical faith isn’t about passive acceptance—it’s about active, passionate engagement with life. It transforms you from a passive observer to an active participant in something extraordinary. Your gifts, your experiences, your unique journey—all of these become part of a larger, meaningful narrative.
Practical Spiritual Adventure
This isn’t about retreating from the world, but engaging with it more deeply. Biblical faith challenges you to:
∙ Live courageously
∙ Serve others compassionately
∙ Pursue personal growth continuously
∙ See beyond immediate circumstances
The Invitation
Biblical faith offers an invitation to move from mere existence to true living. It’s a perspective that says your life matters, your experiences have meaning, and you’re part of something far bigger than yourself.
This isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. It’s about embracing a perspective that turns life’s challenges into opportunities for growth, connection, and profound joy.
Your Extraordinary Journey Begins
Are you ready to transform your life from a series of random events to a meaningful, exciting journey? Biblical faith isn’t a constraint—it’s a liberation. It’s the difference between watching life happen and truly living it.
The compass is in your hands. The adventure awaits.
An Open Door
The way to the adventure is through the door. Jesus Christ said, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” (John 10:9, KJV)
Jesus is the way to a life full of adventure and meaning. John 3:16* famously makes it clear that God loves you. He wants to make you part of His family, and He wants you so much that He graciously surrendered Jesus, His own son, to a cruel death so that Jesus could become your Door.
