About Me

This website, Eagerly Waiting, is something of a mixed bag. It combines my love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Bible with my love of mysteries. Therefore, you will find both of these loves expressed in my blogs and books.

“Eagerly waiting” is a phrase from Hebrews 9:28, ESV. My choice of this phrase reflects the growing excitement among many Christians who believe the catching away of the church, aka the rapture, may be eminent. See my blog of the same name for more discussion on this topic: https://bettyjohansen.com/2021/08/17/eagerly-waiting/

My latest mystery is Lilli’s Song. It was preceded by Darkness Under His Feet (available in toto on this website – https://bettyjohansen.com/darkness-under-his-feet/), Out of Darkness (the sequel to Darkness Under His Feet), and Hawaiian Wildflower.

I am a West Texan, born and raised, and still living in my hometown. By the time I was 50, I had managed to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up – a teacher. So, thanks to an alternative certification program, I was able to become a science teacher without going back to college. Over the years, I have taught 7th grade science, chemistry, and IPC (integrated physics and chemistry.)

Education is an extremely time-consuming job. So, although I’ve been interested in writing for a long time, my efforts have been sporadic. For some reason, putting food on the table took precedence over putting words on paper.

As I grew older and slower, my interest in writing waned. But then, I got the idea that led to Lilli’s Song. My desire to write the book was compelling. I couldn’t seem to get it out of my head.

And then, some of the lovely ladies in my Sunday School class began showing an interest in my novels. Pretty soon, the writing bug resurrected itself in me. And here I am, offering another book and even working on a website designed to showcase Lilli’s Song.

My stories fit most closely into the category of cozy mysteries, which means they are free of filthy language, pornographic scenes, and gratuitous gore. In other words, I write the kind of stories I like to read. I hope you like them too!
